A Return to Happy
Hello Friends,
As we revel in these long summer days, I've been thinking a lot about happiness. Not the kind that comes from everything going right, but the quieter kind that stays with us even when life feels uncertain.
For me, happiness often shows up in the simplest moments. A song that makes me want to get up and dance, a random act of kindness, a walk in the woods, time by the water, and cute, fuzzy animals that hop (or stroll) across my path.
These moments bring me joy, but they don’t create my happiness; they enrich it. It's so easy to believe that our happiness lives somewhere outside of us: in the right relationship, the perfect opportunity, someone else's approval, or circumstances finally falling into place. While those things can absolutely add joy to our lives, they can't create lasting peace for us.
The older I get, the more I realize that my happiness is my responsibility. It's something I cultivate from within. I can't control everything life brings, but I can nurture the inner conditions that allow peace and happiness to grow.
That doesn't mean we ignore our emotions or pretend we're never hurt. Old fears still show up. Old stories still try to convince us they're true. But we don't have to let them make our decisions for us.
And I've noticed something else...
The more I trust my own inner guidance instead of looking outside myself for answers, the more peaceful and happier I become. Not because life suddenly becomes easier, but because I'm no longer allowing every circumstance to determine how I feel.
One of the greatest gifts of EFT Tapping is that it helps calm the nervous system enough for us to hear something besides fear.
If you’ve been in one of my workshops, you’ve heard me say: we don't regulate our nervous system so we never feel fear again; we regulate it so fear is no longer the only voice we hear.
When the noise settles, our intuition becomes easier to access. We begin to recognize old patterns instead of automatically repeating them. We respond with greater clarity instead of simply reacting from old wounds.
That's growth. Little by little, we begin to experience life differently. Not because the world has changed, but because we have.
We can't always control what happens around us, but we don't have to let the outside world dictate our inner condition.
Because happiness and peace don't begin with perfect circumstances. They begin with us.
Wishing you a peaceful, happy August.
With warmth and gratitude,
Rebecca
