Emotional Freedom Technique (“EFT”) is a method that utilizes elements of cognitive and exposure therapy combined with acupressure in the form of fingertip tapping on at least 13 acupuncture energy meridian points to relieve stress and desensitize emotional triggers. EFT is a complimentary form of energy therapy that can enhance traditional therapy by clearing emotional intensity related to a variety of emotional and of physical issues. EFT can also result in powerful cognitive shifts that free you from resistant behavior patterns and thinking.
EFT effectiveness is evidence based having been shown in clinical trials to reduce stress and anxiety, physical pain, depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). More specifically, EFT has proven to be effective for anger management, back pain, chronic pain, cravings, diagnosis anxiety, fears and phobias, grief, imposter syndrome, insomnia, overwhelm, performance anxiety, unworthiness, work/business performance, excessive worry, and many other issues that may be holding you back in your every day life.
Clinical EFT Certified Practitioners are educated and trained based on standards defined by the American Psychological Association (“APA”) Division 12 Task Force on Empirically Validated Treatments. In addition to the voluminous hours of study, examinations and clinical practice required to become certified, Certified Practitioners are trained in, and adhere to, the highest standard of ethics, integrity and professionalism. Rebecca’s Certification is from EFT Universe, the first organization whose trainings were accredited for Continuing Medical Education (CME/CE) credit for all major healing professions, including doctors (American Medical Association), nurses (American Nurses Credentialing Commission), physiologists (APA) and social workers (NASWB). In addition to the ethics training course and written ethics competency test, Certified Practitioners sign the EFT Universe ethics code. For more information, please see EFTUniverse.com.
Yes. EFT has demonstrated to be effective for relief from anxiety, depression, Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD), physical pain and phobias in over 100 published peer-reviewed papers in medical and psychology journals based on dozens of randomized controlled trials, outcome studies and review articles by investigators from, including, but not limited to, Harvard Medical School, Purdue University and the University of Arizona, as well as the American Psychological Association (APA).
Yes. Research shows that emotional trauma (little “t” and big “T”) comprises both physical and emotional health. In clinical studies, use of EFT was found to provide rapid effective reduction of the impact of memories and incidents that triggered a negative emotional response, thereby relieving and calming emotions and related physical pain. When targeted specifically on physical issues, study participants reported a 68% decrease in pain levels. See Church, Dawson, Ph.D. The Genie in Your Genes Epigenetic Medicine and the New Biology of Intention, Energy Psychology Press, 2014, 3d Edition.
Yes. EFT has been shown in scientific studies to decrease anxiety levels by 40% in a single session. In clinical trials tracking the ongoing use of EFT, 76% of participants experienced complete remission from anxiety symptoms and 90% experienced improvement. 78% of these participants maintained their gains after 1 year. In another study, medical professionals suffering from burnout saw a 45% reduction in symptoms, including decreases in emotional distress, food cravings and physical pain after self-applying EFT 3 times a week.
It varies based on your presenting issue(s) and goal(s). Whereas one EFT session may be enough to reduce a heightened state of stress by calming and regulating the nervous system and triggering a relaxation response, a series of targeted in-depth tapping sessions is recommended for changing conditioned patterns of behavior and habits as well as for deep-seeded emotional and physical triggers arising from conditions such as PTSD and trauma as your neural pathways need to be “rewired.” As such, all new clients need to schedule a complimentary Clarity Call, during which we can discuss your presenting issue(s) and goals, and create an appropriate plan tailored to your needs. A minimum of three (3) sessions is recommended for all new clients.
Most people experience an immediate release of conscious stress and continue to notice subtle shifts in energy and behavioral response in the days following a session. More significant and permanent shifts will become apparent over time with continued tapping as your neural pathways are “rewired.”
All new clients need to book a Clarity Call to get started. During the call, we will discuss your presenting issue(s) and goal(s), and assess whether EFT is a good fit for you. If so, we will create a tailored plan for you that best serves your needs.
